This presentation is A Voice from the Congo with Toto Kisaku, a Congolese actor and theatre director. He and his theatre group, K-Mu Theatre, were the 2010 recipients of the Freedom to Create Prize, an international award that supports and recognizes artists who strive for social change in places where there is no freedom to create. His group received this prize for a production about the violent persecution of children accused of witchcraft.

He will share some history regarding past rulers of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the story of his life growing up in the DRC, his socially conscious theatre work, and the cost of freedom.
Mr. Kisaku’s presentation will be in French and English. There will be light refreshments served after the presentation.
